We bought and gut renovated an apartment in Manhattan and needed to decorate virtually the entire place. I found Jane Mogel on Angie’s List and read favorable reviews there, so interviewed her as well as 3 other decorators and interior designers. What I loved about Jane is that she did not push her point of view on me, but worked with me to find things I truly loved that reflect my and my husband’s taste. Jane really listened to what we wanted (and we wanted some pretty specific items that we would not compromise on) and came up with lots of choices and options for us. She has a great eye for color and mixing fabrics and patterns. We had drawn up a budget in excel before our first meeting, and she was mindful of our budget throughout the process, which was an important factor for us. There were several situations that cropped up through no fault of Jane’s, and she worked tirelessly, and cheerfully, to rectify the problems. We worked with Jane to acquire furnishings, art, rugs, reframe items we already owned, choose fabric to reupholster furniture, and do all window treatments. Our project took almost a year from start to finish, so we saw Jane frequently during that time. She was always pleasant and professional, and we are very happy with results.
